The welfare of African communities, with all the children in the community, rests very largely in the hands of African pastors and other leaders. Therefore when Pastor James Ford, an African-American pastor from South Shore Baptist Church in Chicago, offered to help ECM encourage and strengthen church leaders, we felt it was a wonderful idea. In the summer of 2003 Pastor Ford held three conferences for church leaders in Ghana. He said the experience was life-changing, and that he felt he had come home. In 2004, he returned with Elder Talmadge Betts. In 2005, he again led a team of pastors and church leaders from the U.S. to network with Ghanaian church leaders under the auspices of Every Child Ministries. We at ECM hope that developing church leaders will become a regular part of our services to the African churches.
