Have you ever wondered how you could be sure God would accept you into heaven?

Every Child Ministries gives this answer, because the same Gospel that saves African children can also save you.

How Can I Be Saved?

Many of us, if we are honest with ourselves, will admit that deep down inside, we know all is not well between us and our Maker. We sense that we have offended Him. We feel guilty inside. We long for forgiveness and for His acceptance.

We have made mistakes. We have done things we knew were wrong, things that were even against our own consciences. We have messed up our lives. Yes, we have sinned. We long for a clean slate, a new start at life.

We don't want to take our chances trying to get to heaven our own way. We sense that God is in charge "up there," not us. We long to know with assurance what His rules are for admittance to His home.

Good news! God sent us a message to let us know where we stand with Him, what the problem is, and how it can be made right. The Good News is that we can be saved. We can know with assurance that God will someday accept us into His home. We can have right relationship with Him, right now this very minute.

Here is a brief outline of what God's Word says. These verses come from the Holy Bible, which some have described as God's "love letter" to us.

1. Our guilty feelings are not just our imagination. We really have broken God's rules. God says we have sinful hearts. That's why we do so many sinful acts.

    • "As it is written, ‘There is none righteous, no not one;
      There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside;
      They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.' …for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans chapter 3, verses10-12&23

2. Our feelings of alienation are not just our imagination, either. God says that our sin has separated us from Him. We do have a problem, a big one, with God.

    • "Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God." Romans chapter 3, verse 19

3. God made us to enjoy a relationship with Him, and He still loves us, even in our sin.

    • "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans chapter 5, verse 8

Jesus on cross.Every Child Ministries is a Christian mission for the forgotten children of Africajpg4. We deserve punishment for our sins, but God loves us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to pay the punishment of death for us. Jesus paid our debt when He died on the cross for our sins.

    • "For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life." Romans chapter 5, verse 10

5. God showed that He accepted Jesus' sacrifice for us by raising Jesus from the dead.

    • "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scripture, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures." 1 Corinthians 15, verse 4

6. If we will accept the payment Jesus made for us, we go free! When we choose to believe in Him, God forgives us, gives us new, clean hearts that love His ways, gives us a brand new life in Him. When we receive His Son as our Savior, God receives us as His children.

    • "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new…God has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ…" 1 Corinthians chapter 5, verses 17-18

Trusting Jesus Christ as Savior is just the beginning of a wonderful new life of fellowship with God7. Choosing to believe in Jesus Christ is the beginning of a new life that is drastically different from the old one. As we read God's Word (the Bible), pray to Him, and meet together with other people who believe in Him (go to church), we grow, step by step, in our new lives. As we understand more of how we can please God, and as we obey each new step He shows us, we become stronger Christians.

    • "As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby" 1 Peter 2:2

8. When we choose to believe in Jesus, we can be sure of our salvation.

    • "And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God." 1 John chapter 5, verse 13

What do you think?  It's your decision now!

What will you do with Jesus?If you have never made a personal decision to believe in Christ, why not do so now? Pray right now, telling him you admit you are a sinner, and that you believe in Him as your Savior. Ask Him to cleanse your heart and save you. If you have made that decision right now, please let us know. We'd be happy to pray for you and to send you some literature. If you have questions or need help in receiving Christ, please let us know that, too.
